This day trip from Tangier to Rabat is the perfect way to explore and admire Rabat, the capital of Morocco, and a 3-hour drive from Tangier.

 

Meet your driver at the Tangier Port or at your hotel in Tangier and head towards the archeological site of Lixus. This site dates back to the Phoenician period and was a noteworthy port for the Romans. Lixus was settled by the Phoenicians in the seventh century BC and was later annexed by Carthage.

 

After leaving Lixus, head to Rabat, where you will begin your guided tour through the city. Discover the Kasbah of the Oudayas, Hassan Tower, the Mohammed V Mausoleum, the Chellah ruins, the Royal Palace, and the Medina. Also take time to explore the Mohammad VI Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art. Enjoy a leisurely lunch at a nice local restaurant before heading back to Tangier.
